James Cameron debates creating his own AI company
Since he already invented new technology to be used in filmmaking with the original Avatar movie in 2009, he could very well be serious about building AI tools for professional VFX artists.
“People are not creating tools to help us in the VFX realm, they’re making them for the average person,”

The US Government partners with xAI to bring Grok to employees
xAI for Government will be accessible within the War Department’s bespoke AI platform GenAI.mil. They aren’t the only company partnering with the US government, integration and keeping data separate must be a nightmare. I wonder what government employees would rate each AI that they have access to.

Trying out Google’s Antigravity AI IDE
We’ve been using Antigravity for a little over a week and have put together 2 apps: Workout Tracker and Investment Calculator. From writing the code to fixing bugs and then validating the solution by actually taking over your browser and clicking all the buttons. For people that are familiar with product management and engineering you are now able to be orders of magnitude more efficient.
YouTube Playables are games anyone can build without code
Playables are touted as bite-sized games that can be shared directly on YouTube. These games can be developed without code using Gemini 3 in the Playables Builder. Didn’t see this coming but maybe we should have. Just as Netflix is acquiring video game avatar companies you’ll read about below.

Splat is a new app that will turn your photos into coloring book pages
As a parent this is an intriguing use for AI that I think will provide a lot of value to families. Kids love to color, even if they don’t stay in the lines just yet. This one looks like it’s worth a try (not an ad)

Netflix acquires Ready Player Me, an avatar creation platform
The integration of Ready Player Me avatars is how Netflix wants to give users a personalized digital representation of themselves. I’ve been following Ready Player Me for quite some time and they’ve built a pretty high quality avatar system with a plethora of big name partnerships. Even though the metaverse isn’t mentioned as much lately the pieces are slowly coming together.

Transportation
Waymo service interrupted during blackout in San Francisco
When a blackout hit San Fran this past weekend many of Waymo’s vehicles stalled on the roads. These vehicles were all over social media and forced other drivers to weave around them. Elon of coursed posted on X about Tesla’s being unaffected. Gotta love the race for the crown of autonomous travel.

Zoox has a software recall due to lane crossings
The voluntary recall was due to concerns about their driving system where the car would drift over the center line which is obviously unacceptable driving for a robot or human. Good to see them identify the issue and take action.

Quantum Computing
Company unveils new quantum processor that packs more power thanks to a 3D architecture
QuantWare aims to sell these open-architecture chips directly to customers starting in 2028. Their breakthrough that allows up to 10,000 qubits (compared to IBM at 120) is a significant leap in the industry. While error correction remains a hot topic this new chip design and compatibility with NVIDIA could be a recipe for success.

Space
Trump’s executive order is opening up the final frontier for business
The order calls for America’s return to the moon by 2028 and send nuclear reactors to the Moon and orbit amongst other things. This will surely come with challenges and volatile rhetoric in the media but it does feel nice to push towards space like Star Trek level technology in its early days. What a time to be alive.

Our vision
James Cameron creating an AI company would be quite a sight to see. Even though it probably would only produce extremely high end software for VFX specialist in Hollywood, you never know if he’d change his mind and bring something to the masses. We’ve been using Antigravity from Google and have to admit that these AI tools put into the hands of people with some level of technical know how and experience can lead to rapid execution and increased creativity. This space is going to evolve in 2026 with consumers and professionals both benefitting.
Netflix’s acquisition of Ready Player Me isn’t much of a surprise given what they’ve been doing with their TV strategy and how the entertainment market is slowly integrating more and more gaming. While Fortnite continues to lead the way in our opinion of what a metaverse is, Ready Player Me’s avatars push Netflix a step in that direction. If Netflix’s acquisition of Warner Bros. goes through and they can combine their IP with Ready Player Me’s avatar platform that’s a dangerous and exciting mixture.
Autonomous driving continues to run into some headwinds but these are all data points that will help harden their systems. Over time these types of issues will be fewer and far between. Think about all that will be learned as we expand further into space. Trump’s latest order is a great thing to see as someone who loves science fiction and is fascinated by advanced technology and space traversal. With exponential progress it’s possible that this technology reshapes manufacturing and transportation on this planet or if it’s something for later in our lifetime.
